So we moved.
Though I suppose it’s more accurate to say we have MOSTLY moved. There’s still a good chunk of junk at Casa Chaos, waiting to be brought over here, or donated, or whatever. In the week after the official move I spent a lotttttta time there, cleaning and sorting and sweeping and arranging what furniture remained for maximum show-ability. So for the moment, I am taking a break from that house and focusing on the new one. Which has a new name.
More on that in a minute.
So we had the moving day, and we hauled tons more crap by ourselves, and we have managed to knock things down from Box City to just Box Quarter. We’re getting there. But Tsarina goes back to school today (MIDDLE SCHOOL, dear Heaven, and riding the bus for the first time), and HRH will start on Wednesday (grade 10, not as momentous, but if you could see the summer homework assignment she just finished, you would be amazed and awed). Mommy finally has time to really work again, because deadlines are looming. So the remaining boxes will need to knocked off one or two per evening. I predict we’ll finish by next Easter.
However, my office is workable! And it oven looks semi-organized and pretty!
At least it looks that way looking toward the front. If you turn around, well ….
Yeah. I still have a way to go.
But in addition to the move, and then the biannual Erie writing retreat, and the start of school, we’ve had more excitement. Like, we decided it was time to adopt again.
This time, however, we decided to stay a bit closer to home.
Ladies and gents, I give you Fidget (the grey, 5 months) and Caesar (tabby, 3 years). The girls picked them out at a local shelter, it was love at first sight, and they are settling in remarkably well. In fact, they were the deciding factor in choosing the final name for this house:
I think we’re off to an excellent start.
